Review and Giveaway: General Mills Retro Cereal #5 - Lucky Charms

This is the fifith and final giveaway of five General Mills giveaways this week.  Enter the others here, here, here, and here.

Again this year for a limited time, Target stores are carrying the Retro editions of five favorite General Mills Big G cereals, complete with authentic "retro" package designs and cartoons from the '50s, '60s, and '70s.  These special edition boxes are only available until mid-March!
All the boxes have authentic Retro designs, as well as games and activities on the boxes.  For even more fun, you can go to GrocerySavvy.com to watch authentic retro cartoons, such as Underdog, King Leonardo, and Dennis the Menace.  You can also print coupons for General Mills products!

Today I'm highlighting the special edition Lucky Charms box, from 1989.  Lucky Charms is my husband's absolute favorite cereal.  Let's just say he was very, very happy that we were receiving this General Mills gift pack.  I have to say, Lucky Charms is pretty good - it's sort of like the wholesomeness of Cheerios - but with marshmallows!

The retro cereal pack has on the back 'Catch the Leprechaun' - A new "Maze Race" game you can play right now."

Remember, you can buy all the Retro cereals at Target stores, but you also have a chance to win some for free!  Thanks to General Mills, I am giving away a fourth Big G Retro cereal gift pack, which includes one each of the five special edition cereals, plus a $10 Target gift card!

To enter this giveaway, simply leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite thing about or memory of Lucky Charms. You must answer this question to enter.  Please include your email in your comment if it is not available in your profile. For extra entries, you may do any or all of the following, for a maximum of 4 entries in total (please leave a separate comment for each):

1) Follow Frugally Blonde by rss feed.
2) Follow Frugally Blonde by email
3) Follow Frugally Blonde on Twitter and tweet about this giveaway. (Leave a link to your tweet.) This may only be done once; no daily tweets.

This contest runs for only one week and ends on next Friday, March 18, at midnight. The contest is open to residents of the US only, and the winner must provide a valid mailing address (no PO boxes).  I will choose the winner randomly and notify him or her by email, and he or she will have 72 hours to respond.  Good luck!

I received a retro cereal gift pack from General Mills, who is also supplying the giveaway prizes..  I received no other compensation for this post, and the opinions are my own.

  26. I love GM cereals and have such fond memories growing up as a child eating them for breakfast. I remember we only got the sugary cereals for very special treats as we never had extra money to spurge so it was always a good break from the pots of oatmeal when we would see the red box in the pantry. I remember diving the charm marshmallows and ALWAYS eating them first and loved how the milk would change color. It's great to see my nephews enjoy Lucky Charms as much as their mother and I did -hence it's always cereal saturday when they sleep over and I would love to have more cereals for them and I to enjoy! Thank you for this chance!

  118. When my daughter was learning to talk, she never bothered learning words everyone else used - she just made up her own lingo. One day she told me she wanted the pink cereal. PINK Cereal???? What could that possibly be?! Now, this is the same child who raved about this bread that was white that she'd had at a friend's house. It only took me 6 months to find out that she wasn't talk about a bread that was white - she was talking about plain old white bread, which she had never had because we only have 100% whole wheat.

Anyway... I took her to the grocery store to see if she could find her pink cereal, and she walked right over to the Lucky Charms! PINK?!! The hearts are pink, but nothing else is! But I'll always remember that whenever I see Lucky Charms.
