Review and Giveaway: Good Earth Dry Dinner Kit

I recently had the chance to review an interesting new grocery product: Good Earth dry dinner kits.  These are similar in some ways to something like Hamburger Helper, in that it includes everything you need for a meal except for the meat.  However, the simliarities to cheap, sodium-filled dinner kits end there!

Each variety includes vibrant and flavorful sauces along with specialty ingredients like sweet basil, white wine and dried tomatoes. The Good Earth dinner kits also have 100% whole grain, no trans fat, no artificial flavors, no artificial preservatives, and no MSG.  I was really excited to learn about a product like this that is super convenient, yet healthy. 

Good Earth dry dinner kits offer a selection of four flavors: Mediterranean Chicken with angel hair pasta, Spicy Citrus Glazed Shrimp with angel hair pasta, Herb Crusted Chicken with mushroom risotto and Tuscan Chicken with penne pasta.  The one that I sampled was the Medierranean Chicken.

First of all, the meal was indeed quite easy to prepare.  The box claims that dinner can be prepared in about 30 minutes, and I would say that it is pretty accurate.  I think it took just a bit longer for me, although I had a little extra chicken to cook.

I thought that the taste of the meal was delicious!  The sauce was a little different from something I would usually make, and it did indeed remind me of a restaurant meal.  Plus, I loved that it had whole wheat pasta. 

I think pretty much my only critique of the kit was that it could have had a little more pasta.  I actually ended up cooking some other pasta and saving some of the sauce for it, since there was plenty of sauce.  I would say that if you are feeding four hearty appetites you would definitely want to do that.

Overall, I would absolutely buy this product again, as long as I got a good deal.  It would really be nice to have a few of these around for crazy evenings!
