Harris Teeter Super Doubles Shopping Trip

I am really, really excited about this morning's Harris Teeter Super Doubles shopping trip!  It seems like the last few Super Doubles weeks have been only so-so, but there were some terrific deals today!  This is what I got for $36:

I was most excited about the General Mills promotions - Buy 4 selected cereals get $2 off instantly and Buy 4 Fiber One bars get $2 off instantly.  We have been very low on cereal around here for a while, since I avoid buying it when I can't get it for $1.00/box or less.  Today, after the promotion, manufacturer's coupons, and e-Vic coupons, all the cereals I got today were less than $1.00 each.   My husband and kids will be very, very happy to see this!

I was reminded again today of the importance of checking your receipt before you leave the store, since the instant $2.00 did not come off automatically for either promotion.  My Harris Teeter has great customer service, though, so they refunded me the money when I went to the customer service desk.  I'm just glad that I checked before I strapped the kids back into the car!

I was also very happy to find all that marked down produce.  My Harris Teeter is the only store in my area that has a discount produce rack, and I always check it when I got.  All this produce was $.50/lb. - half of the least that I normally pay.  A lot of it is in good enough condition to last for at least a few days, and anything that is deteriorating fast we will eat or freeze today.

As usual, I used Jenny's detailed lists for my coupon matchups.

I usually get my deals in just one trip during Super Doubles week, but since you can only do the cereal promotion once per order, I will be going back.  Time to stock up on cereal!

Harris Teeter Super Doubles Deals

Here's a pics of my Harris Teeter super doubles shopping trip from Wednesday morning.  I spent $29.28 on everything pictured above, plus a $1 worth of marked-down bananas that I forgot to include in the picture.  I feel like that for me, this month's Super Doubles included fewer freebies, but more good prices on items that I regularly use and have to buy anyway, such as cheese, eggs, trash bags, and freezer bags.  So even though my total was a little higher than usual, the sales I got will save money in the long run.

I also hit Bloom's Super Doubles on Tuesday - they're having Super Doubles every Tuesday for the month of June in the DC area.  Combining super doubles with the "Big Breeze" promotion (which basically gives you half off your order of participating products if you buy in multiples of 10)  made for some really sweet deals.  Sarah has the details on this promotion for this week.

Harris Teeter Triples Deals

I'm finally getting around to posting pics of my Harris Teeter trips.  I'm really very pleased with the results!

First trip: everything pictured above (plus the Luigi's Italian Ice that I forgot to include in the pic) for about $7.50.

My spur-of-the-moment second trip this morning: all this for $1.81!  Yes!!!! I love trips that make me feel like an "extreme couponer." ;-)

Another thing I love about these deals?  They are a great example of why the idea that "all coupon deals are for unhealthy packaged products" is wrong!  I got Greek yogurt, brown rice, dried fruit, 7-grain crackers, Yellowfin tuna, and natural peanut butter all on triple coupon deals.

Hurray for bargains on healthy food!

Harris Teeter Triples Deals

I know you all are dying to see the best deals for Harris Teeter's Triple Coupon Event this week.  I was all prepped to visit my Harris Teeter bright and early this morning, but I woke up in the wee hours with a fever.  Looks like I finally came down with the virus that has been making the rounds of my family for the past couple of weeks.  So now I'm planning to try to make it to HT on Friday evening, when I'm hoping they will have restocked some items.

Shannon from Mrs. Moneysaver didn't get to the deal list for Harris Teeter this week, so here are some other place to go to find coupon matchups:

 - Southern Savers has three different lists for the event - regular price deals, sales ad deals, and unadvertised specials.  You can check the items you plan to buy and create a printable shopping list, too.

 - The Deal Scoop has a simple list of just the $1.00 and under deals.

 - The Coupon Challenge already has the results of her shopping trip up, as well as lists of matchups.

I'm looking forward to using some $.75/1 coupons that I had been saving in my "be sure to use" coupon envelope.  I had been planning to use them at Wegmans or Giant, so they would be doubled, but tripled is even better!  Some of these include the $.75/1 McCormick spice or extract coupon, a $.75/1 Gerber Yogurt Blends coupon I got from a mailer, and the $.60/2 Yoplait Greek yogurt coupon.

I'm hoping that later in the week I'll have a photo of my great bargains to share with you!

Harris Teeter Super Doubles Deals

Believe it or not, I thought of skipping this Super Doubles week altogether.  The deals didn't seem as spectacular as last month's, and I'm near the end of our grocery budget for March.

Predictably, though .  . . I couldn't stay away.  However, I stuck mostly with free and very cheap items, and I'm still slightly under budget for the month.

Total Spent: about $11.00 - from a pre-coupons and sales total of over $65!

I picked up the Gerber fingertip toothbrush and baby toothpaste since a 50% off sign caught my eye, and Baby Gem seems to be teething.  However, my total at the checkout seemed a little high, and sure enough, it rang up full price.  I went to the service desk, and after checking the price, they gave me a full refund!  Apparently, HT has a policy to give the item for free if it rings up incorrectly.  Good to know!

Harris Teeter Super Double Coupons Matchups

Shannon at Mrs. Moneysaver was unable to complete a Harris Teeter list this week for Super Double Coupons week, so I'd thought I'd point you in the direction of some other sources for your coupon matchups.  This is a big super doubles week with a ton of deals!

Jenny at Southern Savers has two long and comprehensive lists - one for regular priced deals and one for sales ad deals.  I love her create a list function where you can check certain items and print your list.

Dana at The Coupon Challenge has another extensive list.  It looks as if it's been double-checked and updated, too.

The Deal Scoop has a list in a Google doc that you can organize by price, aisle, or insert date, which is really convenient.

Finally, if those lists seem overwhelming, here is a simple list of just the free and very cheap deals.

Harris Teeter General Mills Scenario

As you may know, Harris Teeter Super Double coupons started today, and boy are the deals rockin!

I'll share more details about my trip later (and a lesson on the importance of checking your receipt), but right now I wanted to go ahead and share a scenario for the General Mills promotion that is running.  I couldn't find a specific scenario on any other blogs, so I had to create my own.

The offer is this: Buy any 20 participating General Mills products using your VIC card, save $6 instantly.  This doesn't sound so great up front, but all the items are on good sales.  The sale prices combined with the super double coupons make for some great deals.

This scenario I obviously made up for my needs, and it is not necessarily the least money out of pocket.  However, it also does not require endless multiples of coupon inserts; only one or two per item.

Of course, if you have more copies of certain coupons, you could make this deal even better.  The best deals here are the Green Giant vegetables with the printable coupons (FREE), the Yo-Plus ($.50) and the Cinnamon Burst Cheerios and Golden Grahams ($.50).  Of course, also take extra coupons in case you have to make substitutions for out-of-stock items.
