Giant Cereal and Frozen Food Deals

There are some very hot deals at Giant this week that I just had to take the time to share with you.

First off: cereal!  I haven't run into a real stock-up sale on cereal in a long time, so I am pretty excited about this one.  Selected General Mills cereals are 3 for $5, and there are a number of printable coupons.  The best deals are:

Golden Grahams - $1.66 (if you buy 3) - use $.75/1 printable coupon (doubled) = $.16
Lucky Charms - $1.66 (if you buy 3) - use $.55/1 printable coupon here, here, here, here or here (doubled) - $.56
Cinnamon Toast Crunch - $1.66 (if you buy 3) - use $.55/1 printable coupon here, here, here, or here(doubled) - $.56

Note that you have to buy 3 to get the 3 for $5 price; "quantities greater or less than 3 will be sold for $1.99."  I purchased each 3 in a separate transaction to be safe.

Then, there are some great deals to be had with the promotions for National Frozen Food Month (which as you know is March ;-).

This week, if you spend $25 on participating frozen items, you get a coupon for $10 off your next order, or if you buy $15 worth, you get $5 off your next order.   The participating items are listed on the back of the sales ad.  Here is the scenario that I worked out:

Buy:
2 Wanchai Ferry Entrees - $5.99 each = $11.98
1 McCain French Fries - $2.50
2 Aunt Jemima French Toast - $2.00 each = $4.00
1 NY Texas Garlic Toast = $2.00
2 Dole Frozen Strawberries - $2.99 each = $5.98
= $26.46 total before coupons

Use these coupons:
(2) $1.50/1 Wanchai Ferry Entree printable or from 3/6 SS insert
(1) $1.00/1 McCain Potatoes from 2/27 SS insert
(1) $1.00/2 Aunt Jemima facebook coupon
(1) $.50/1 New York product from 2/13 SS insert or Feb. All You magazine
(2) $.75/1 Dole Frozen fruit from 1/9 SS insert (exp. 3/13) or 3/6 SS insert
= $17.46 after coupons, PLUS get $10 coupon back

Total cost: $7.46 for 8 items, or about $.93/item!

AND . . . if all this weren't enough, there is another Frozen Food Month promotion running simultaneously, from Feb. 25-March 24.  For this one, if you spend $100 on frozen food items during that time period, you get a $25 coupon for a future shopping order.  It looks like these can be any frozen products, with the only exclusions of "Contessa meals and certain meat and seafood items."

The monthly promotion can only be redeemed once per household, but the weekly promotion only says "Limit 1 per transaction."  So conceivably,  you could spend $100 on frozen items this week (only the ones included in the weekly promo), in 4 separate transactions of $25 each, and get 4 $10 coupons plus a $25 coupon back.  That would be $35 for $100 worth of groceries even before coupons!  And if you had enough coupons, your total could be ridiculously low. :-D

*Edit: I noticed in the Sunday version of the ad this morning that the $25 and $100 totals say, "after coupons and savings and before taxes."  However, I did the above scenario on Friday at my Giant and got the $10 coupon, even though my total was less than $25 after coupons.  So, you'll just have to be willing to take a chance if you try this one.

Let us know if you take advantage of any of these deals this week!
