Frugal Fall Fun at the Farm

(Couldn't resist the alliteration. ;-)

For "LuLu" (my one year old) 's birthday a couple of weeks ago, we went on a fun family outing to a local farm.  Her birthday fell on a Sunday, and we had already celebrated with a party with family a couple of weeks before.  However, I still wanted to do something special on the actual day.  My husband suggested going to a local petting zoo, but that particular place costs about $10 a person!  When you have toddlers with shorter attention spans and who can have meltdowns at any time, that seemed like a lot for an afternoon outing!

Luckily, I had heard from some friends about a local farm that is also a regional park and which is free to visit.  So we packed our usual family picnic of cheese, crackers, pepperoni, and fruit, and headed out to the farm.

We had so much fun together!  The girls loved seeing the animals, and they even petted baby goats.  I wasn't surprised that LuLu would pet them (she adores animals), but I was pleased that my "GiGi", my 3 year old, actually initiated it, since she is much more cautious.

I feel so lucky that this farm is in our area.  It's so wonderful to find a fun outing that is completely free!  We plan to visit again often!
